Southside A/G invites all children between the ages of four and ten to join the Kingdom Kids, our Children's Church Ministry.
When we were smaller we traveled and sang with a gospel singing group. The adults used to sing a song called "Love will Roll The Clouds Away". The first verse began with the words"...God is watching over all..." My cousin Donna thought the words were "...God is washing overalls..."! Pam Sanford
3-year-old, Reese: "Our Father, Who does art in heaven, Harold is His name. Amen."
The Pastor had initiated a theme of Old Testament practices and actual demonstrations for his Sunday School.
The week's theme focused on Moses and the Exodus. When one student returned home, he excitedly greeted his Mother with: "Guess what, Mommy. We made unleaded bread today in Sunday School !"
A Sunday school teacher asked her children, as they were on the way to church service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?"
One bright little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping."
After church on Sunday morning, a young boy suddenly announced to his Mother, "Mom, I've decided I'm going to be a minister when I grow up."
"That's okay with us." the Mother replied. "But what made you decide to be a minister ?"
"Well..." the boy replied. "I have to go to church on Sunday anyways, and I figure it will be a lot more fun to stand up there and yell at everybody than to sit still, be quiet and listen."
I had been teaching my three-year old daughter, Caitlin, the Lord's Prayer for several evenings at bedtime. She would repeat the lines from the prayer after me. Finally, she decided to go solo. I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word right up to the end of the prayer: "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us some E-mail."
Jenny was asked by her mother what she had learned in Sunday School.
"Well, Mommie, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
When he got to the Red Sea he had his engineers build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then he used his walkie-talkie to radio headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and saved the Israelites."
"Now, Jenny, is that really what your teacher taught you ?" her mother asked.
"Well... no, Mommie, but if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe it."
